"You are kidding me, right?" Calla asked the slave next to her, absolutely indredulous that he would say such a thing.
"I'm serious," he told her, "I'm going to break out tonight. Just you wait and see."
Calla scoffed, rolled her eyes, and put her hands behind her head. As she leaned back she said, "Your funeral."
A noise from one of the guards drew her attention to the doorway where someone was standing.

Jason, feeling very indecisive, was wearing a dark grey hoodie, possibly trying to hide himself as much as he could. He stood in the doorway for a minute before stepping in, trying to seem confident. He hated the fact he was here, yet, he needed a companion.
He was depressed and was in dire need of some care. He wasn't there for a sexual reason, like many other, but he just needed the comfort. Even still, he was indecisive, because he didn't really like being touched or being around people.
He was desperate.
A girl with blue hair caught his eye. He walked over to the section she was being held in and pretended to look at the others, his eyes lingering on her mostly. He was extremely nervous in new situation, although, he kept his face calm and cool.

"See something you like?" Calla asked, completely unashamed. She shifted a little on the ground, crossing her legs at the ankles in front of her as she watched the man in front of her.

"Hardly," Jason replied, coolly. He wanted to seem more confident and he was proud of himself. He was writhing on the inside, very uncomfortable with where he was and what he was doing. He came to stand in front of the girl.
"The view is getting better, however." He tried a smile, but it probably came off as a grimace. He was getting worse at hiding how he felt inside.

Eyeing the man briefly, Calla tilted one side of her mouth up. She pulled her hands from behind her head and leaned forward very slightly. "Looks to me like you just swallowed a bucket full of worms." She paused for a moment. "It's okay to be nervous. Most are. Well, not the stuck up rich losers but no one wants to go home with them anyway."

"So, you want to come home with me?" Jason asked quietly. He pulled the hood over his head a little more. "I don't really know how this works." His voice became quieter with each word.
Ah! Why does this place do this to me? He thought. He was normally so calm and collected. He shoved his hands in the pockets of his jeans, feeling a little frustrated.

"That depends. You going to rape me? Beat me? Starve me? Force me to work all day with no break? Torture me? Mistreat me in any way? Because if any of those answers are yes, I'm going to have to go with a whole-hearted, resounding no." Calla didn't believe she would be any worse off going home with this guy than she would staying right where she was, But the only way to get answers is to ask questions. So ask, she did.

"What?! No!" Jason was taken aback by her questions. She was very forward and that somehow calmed him. She was normal, sort of. Didn't seemed damaged. On his way to the Market, he wondered how the slaves would act once he had one and it made his shudder.
"I don't really want people even knowing that I 'own' you."

Calla blinked and stilled, surprised. "Wow," she breathed. A heartbeat later, she smiled. "So does that mean you've made a decision?"

"Yeah, sure." Jason looked around. "Is there... a sales person to... talk to? What do I do?" He was so lost, and now very embarrassed that he couldn't do this himself without asking for help from one of the slaves.

Calla looked around quickly, spotting a guard nearby. "Hey fatty! Come open my cage so I can leave. And forget the leash, we don't need it."
The guard startled at being called fat and quickly looked at Jason to see if Calla was right and he wanted her set free... without a leash.

Jason nodded quickly and stepped back. His heart was racing. He was really doing this. He was going to own a slave. No, he thought. I won't treat her that way. It's morally wrong.
When the guard stiffly opened the cage, Jason held his hand out to Calla to help her out. "I'm... Jason." He pushed his bangs bang out of his face, resulting in the hood to fall. He didn't care in that moment because no one who lived around him owned a slave. No one would know. And he was going to keep it that way.

Calla took his hand gratefully when she stepped out. "I'm Calla. So I'm guessing I'm your first slave since you have no clue how to do this. What made you want a slave?"

Jason hesitated. He already look completely pathetic, being as clueless as he was. "Well, I need some help around the house." That was true, he did. His house was clean enough, if a little dusty. "Do you... do... laundry?"

Calla stared at him. "I'm a slave. Of course I do laundry. Hate it, but you are the one who saved me from having to listen to this guy attempt a suicide mission," she pointed to the cage next to her own where the guy who was planning to escape sat. "In this case, I think I can make an exception and buck up."

"A suicide mission?" Jason leaned forward. "To escape? Can that even happen?"

"No." Calla let out a loud, unladylike snort. "But he doesn't know that."

Jason laughed, a little nervously. "Okay, we need to go. I don't feel right in here." He offered his hand once more, so that they could get out of this dark place.

Calla smiled just a little as she reaced for Jason's hand. From what she had seen, Calla was going to have a great master. In her excitement, the fingertips on her other hand let out a few sparks and she quickly hid it behind her back. She had no idea how Jason would feel about her being a witch but her reception in the Black Market hadn't been a pleasant one since the guards had discovered what she was.

Jason was completely oblivious as he led her outside. "I guess we could head straight for my house. It's close and I will make us some food." He turned his head back slightly. "What would you like? I keep my house stocked with various things. I love cooking." He turned forward, smiling a bit. Being a cook would be one of his many dreams. His mother was a cook. An amazing cook. And her talent passed to him.

"You cook? Nice!" Call was surprised at Jason. He didn't seem to be anything like what the other slaves had said masters were like. "I like pasta best, although I haven't tried much of anything."

"That sounds great right now," Jason said as they got closer to his house. He lived just on the outside of the city, and it didn't take much to get there. It was very convenient for him and his job. He was always on time. "I make my own pasta. I could make you peppered shrimp Alfredo. If you like fish, of course."

Calla just shrugged. "No idea. It sounds like it would be good, though." She eyed her surroundings carefully, watching peole pass by and noting landmarks she could use to find her way around if she were ever separated from Jason.

"Great." They finally arrived at his house. It wasn't very big, but it looked much larger inside. He led her to the kitchen, which was larger than the living and dining areas. Large, marble counter tops framed the room. And there was a bar-type table in the middle, complete with matching stools.
"Please, sit." Jason motioned to one of the stools.
All of the appliances were large, especially the refrigerator. He opened it up and grabbed a few thing and set them on the counter, before moving from cabinet to cabinet, grabbing a few things here and there to prepare their meal.

Calla watched in mild interest as ason set about getting everythign prepped. While she was a lousy cook, that didn't mean she wasn't intriqued by the process. She sat at the table, which allowed her an unobstructed view of Jason and most of the rest of the kitchen. "Your house is really nice, and this kitchen is beautiful," she offered.

"I saved up years worth of money to pay for this, so it should be," Jason replied, steady in his work. He was very graceful with his hands. He worked quickly. "My mother would love this kitchen..." He drifted off into thoughts of her.

"There's not too much to say," Jason replied. He always got sad when he thought about his mother.
He didn't say anything for a few minutes while he cooked. And at last, it was done. Steamy and beautiful on his best china. He loved presenting food in a beautiful way. He set the plate down in front of Calla as he sat down across from her.
"She was beautiful and happy and didn't give birth to me. But she was the best."

Calla watched as Jason cooked, wishing she hadn't asked the question. She hadn't meant to bring up this better left alone. On top of that, it wasn't like she could just start talking about her own mother and steer the conversation in another direction. She had literally no memories of her life before two months ago.
Deciding to remain silent, she happily dug into the food in front of her. "Oh my God!" she moaned. "This is so good!"

Jason ate carefully. He savored each bite. He loved the way the ingredients came together to form an amazing meal. He was glad Calla was enjoying herself, but he didn't smile. For many years he rarely had a reason to.
He looked up and gazed at Calla. His slave. He felt weird thinking about her like that. He tried to think of it differently. Any way he did think about it, he had still payed for her.
She didn't even seem like a slave to him. She didn't seem scarred or damaged mentally. Sure, she was a little forward with her questions and statements, but that was a normal personality trait.
"So, uuh, have you...moved around...much?" He asked. He didn't want to even mention the word "slave."
